How To Put On False Eyelashes?

Get A Great Look!

The best way to get good at applying false eyelashes is to keep doing it!

Practice makes perfect! Sephora and E.L.F. both sell adorable false eyelash kits, although you can get fancy expensive ones, or from any drugstore. You can buy full strips or individual falsies. Go through your normal face routine.

Wash your face with a good cleanser. Put on sunscreen and moisturizer. Put on your foundation, powder, whatever, you usually wear, and then your eye makeup (minus mascara). Then, even if you don’t normally wear it, apply eyeliner. This will be important for minimizing the appearance of the line on the fake lashes.

Before you do anything else, hold the strips up to your eye and make sure that they are the right size. If they seem a little long, and they may be, you might want to trim them down. Some people even choose to trim them because the don’t want the look of a full strip, and prefer a half strip (or a three-quarter strip). Trim them with a small pair of scissors BEFORE you put them on your eyes!!

Now put a dollop of eyelash adhesive either on the back of your hand, or any convenient surface. Gently drag the base of the strip through the glue, so that the entire base is lightly coated with the adhesive (not enough glue and it won’t adhere properly, too much glue and it will get gloppy and hard to manage). Let it dry for 15-30 seconds, just enough so that it starts to thicken up. Then gently attach the strip, starting at the outer corner. Try to adhere the strip exactly where your natural eyelashes and your eyelid meet.

Then make any small adjustments that are necessary. If you would like, apply a coat or two of mascara, and then you are good to go!

How To Apply a Full Strip of False Eyelashes?

Sexy Lashes

False eyelashes are a great way to add a little something extra to your regular makeup routine.

A full strip of lashes is quicker and easier to apply than the little individual falsies. Strips of false lashes are extremely varied in the kinds you have to choose from! Some are relatively short, like natural lashes, others are much longer.

Some are subtle and sparse, while others are thick and full. They range in color from the lightest brown to the darkest black. Some of them even have crazy colors like red or blue or purple. There are even specialty lashes that have glitter or tiny rhinestones on them for real “oomph.” Other specialty lashes are made of other material like feathers.

The first step is to do your regular eye makeup. Use a beautiful eye shadow, and possibly a highlighter at the brow bone and inner corner. Then, apply your eyeliner. The best type is a pencil or kohl eyeliner that you can smudge after application. This will help to make the line of the strip of false lashes less noticeable. Next, run the base of the strip gently through the eyelash glue.

The base should be well-coated, but not dripping with adhesive. Do not apply right away! Let the glue dry – not all the way – just a little. It should dry just enough to be a little bit sticky or tacky. Then, using your fingers or preferably a pair of tweezers, line the eyelashes up with your eye. Then place them, not squarely on the eyelids or attached to your own lashes, but right at the place where your natural lashes meet your eyelid. Hold them there for about ten seconds, until they begin to dry. Then you can let go.

Wait about a minute before you work on your other eye, so that you don’t accidentally knock the first set of lashes askew while they are still drying. If you like, add a bit of liquid liner to further disguise the lashes AND add more drama. Then, also optional, some mascara. Use your own judgement for that!

How To Apply and Remove False Eyelashes?

Posted on July 30, 2009

Beautiful Eyelashes

Beautiful Eyelashes

False eyelashes are a fantastic way to add a little something extra for a glamorous look, or spice up a sexy look for a night out (or in).

There are two basic types of false eyelashes: individual lashes, which are a bit more subtle, and full strips of false eyelashes.

The first step is to apply your eye make-up. Apply your eyeshadow, with a lighter color at the browbone, and a darker color in the crease. Then apply eyeliner, which will help disguise the line of false eyelashes. Holding the fake eyelashes with your fingers or a pair of tweezers, run the base of the strip through the glue, liberally coating it. Then wait ten to fifteen seconds to allow the glue to set up.

Do not let it dry all the way, just let it get tacky. Line the strip of lashes up with your eye, and then gently place the strip right where your eyelashes meet your eye.

If it doesn’t go on straight, nudge it into place as quickly as possible. Do not rush, as that will lead to errors, but do it before the glue dries completely. Then, finish up with a coat or two of mascara, only if the fake lashes are light, or do not match your lashes.

If you put on a pair of dark, full lashes, you will not need mascara. When you are ready to remove the lashes, start with eye makeup remover (baby oil can also be used in a pinch).

Remove your shadow and liner with it, and then work at the base of the false lashes. Once you have loosened the grip of the glue, grip the false lashes at the inner corner, and gently pull outward. Do not pull off from the outer corner inwards. Once you have removed the lash, use the eye makeup remover to gently remove the last of the glue and makeup.
